Meet Paul Richards

One half of the Bekdon Richards name, Paul Richards has real estate in his blood and success in his sights. Instilled with a passion for property at an early age when he joined his father on his auction rounds as a property specialist with State Trustees, Paul moved into studying real estate straight from school…and then into an award-winning career with one of Victoria’s largest multi-franchise brands.
A fully fledged agent by the age of 23, Paul was appointed an Associate by the age of 25, going onto become the Number 1 Salesperson in his branch for the next four years. So it was no surprise that before he turned 30, this fast-paced agent had teamed up with another talented real estate professional, Evan Lykourinos, in their own fast-moving concern, Bekdon Richards.
Known for his laid-back approach and sociable manner, Paul’s simple approach to building his business has held true since the early days. With a wife who has also worked in the property industry, the Richards’ household is definitely property-focused …although Paul says the addition of two young sons and a daughter to the mix keeps the focus on real life, as much as real estate. A keen golfer, a committed Essendon supporter and a fifth generation MCC member, Paul’s life is very full…although never too full to fit in a game at Windy Hill with his dad.

We recently sold our property that had been in our family for around 75 years, so it was really a big decision, particularly with our strong degree of emotional attachment to the property. We sought advice from three agents, and after a lot of soul searching, went with Bekdon Richards. We dealt mainly with Mark Kainey who was a pleasure to deal with all throughout the sale process. He has a no nonsense approach, totally professional and honest. There were no outlandish promises, but good solid advice, backed up by excellent data from previous sales and their extensive experience. He was further backed up by a great team in his office. On this basis we decided to go to auction. The advertising program was excellent and very reasonable cost-wise. They actually gave us more than we anticipated, with assistance with some extra advertising in our program. On auction day, the whole team attended including management and all put in, mingling with the crowd, answering questions and assisting. The auctioneer was great. He was obviously very experienced, and once again, had a very down to earth no nonsense approach. Needless to say, we were more than happy with the outcome of the auction which exceeding virtually all expectations.
